What commission do you take?

How will I be paid?
Payment is made by BACS approximately 6 weeks from the day that you worked, but can sometimes take up to 3 months.
Are there any other fees?
No. The only cost is 20% commission (plus VAT) deducted from all work
What happens with tax?
Our Supporting Artistes are self-employed and responsible for income tax and annual tax returns. We will need to check an official document showing your NI number when you apply.
I have been booked for job and I have a question about the filming day, who do I ask?
If you have a specific question about a booking, please contact your booker, you will find the booker’s name on the original email or text message you received from them.
If you are not sure who to contact directly send an email to hello@maartistes.co.uk
Technical questions or any other question not related to a booking:
email hello@maartistes.co.uk
What do I do in an emergency and I can’t make it?
If you have been booked for a job and you are unable to attend a filming day, it is very important that we know this information as soon as possible so that your booker can find a replacement for you. This must be done by phone.
How to get more work
Make sure your photos are up to date and match what’s being asked for. They need to be in colour with no filters. You can change your photos at any time and as often as you like, just send them to us on WhatsApp or by email, it really helps to change them now and again.
Check your measurements regularly with a tape measure in feet and inches. Getting even one measurement wrong could drastically cut your work offers.
Regularly check through all your details and update any skills, experience or wardrobe. If you don’t tell us we won’t know about it.
Make sure we have an up to date passport photo ID and if you have one a copy of your DBS certificate (Basic disclosure certificate.).
Other things you can do:
Keep us informed. If you change your email or mobile, make sure we know. If your appearance changes a lot, upload a new photo.
A simple thing. Be contactable. You need an email address and you need a mobile.
Be fast. Your mobile needs to be near you and switched on at all times. Often jobs are booked very quickly. An hour later somebody else may have beaten you to the job.
Say yes. People that say yes to every job, quickly get a reputation in the office as being reliable.
The most important thing
The most important one of all but often overlooked. Be nice. Not just to agency staff, but to crew and other artistes. This business is all about reputation. Don’t let us down. Which means if you are booked for a job, ensure you keep that commitment and don’t pull out.
You will then get a reputation as a reliable artiste and will be more likely to be booked more often.
